The New Outstanding Azure Automation Runbook Runtime Environment
I was pretty excited to see this feature available in Public Preview.
Azure offers various automation products, but whenever I need to run specific tasks regularly, I always find myself relying on an Automation Account.
Now, when you’ve worked for a while with this product, you know that runbooks are the primary driver of automating these tasks.
Whenever you’ve created a runbook, it allows you to specify the Runbook type and Runtime version.
The thing that I always find challenging, is the granular control when runbooks execute on environments, whether it is a system-generated one, or a hybrid job.
Now, the Azure Automation team has introduced a new way to enable job execution environments. In such a way, you can choose the runtime language e.g. PowerShell, and the runtime version for each environment you create.
These so-called Runtime environments can be created with the new Runtime Environment Experience in the Azure Portal.
